Kohli admitted to asking Sharma for advice on numerous occasions
India vice-captain Virat Kohli believes opening batsman Rohit Sharma definitely has what it takes to lead the national team in the near future and even admitted to asking for his advice during matches.
“He (Rohit) has tremendous cricketing brain,” Kohli said. “I often take his advice during matches.”
Kohli also conceded that he loved leading India during their recent 5-0 trashing of Zimbabwe, which was the country’s first whitewash away from home.
“I got a chance of being a captain in recently concluded Zimbabwe series,” he said. “I like to be a captain and take responsibility.
“As a batsman, we focus on ourselves, but as a captain we have to look into every aspect. The responsibility increases manyfold as the captain.”
When asked if he had anything planned for the future, Kohli replied: “I never plan anything and believe in consistency. I can’t tell what will happen in future.”
